鸦片战争开启了中国近代的屈辱历史,处于社会各阶级的先进中国人为了挽救民族危亡进行了一次次的探索。其探索具有广泛性、艰难性、发展性、时代性、局限性等特点,这些探索虽未改变中国社会半殖民地半封建社会的性质,但给我们留下了众多启示。

The Opium War opens the humiliating history of modem China. The advanced Chinese from all social classes make numerous efforts to save the nation in peril. These explorations are featured by universality and moder- nity while full of hardships and limitations. Although they do not change the semi-colonial and semi-feudal society, the explorations leave much enlightenment to the descendants.
