摘要
本文通过问卷调查,深入了解三所地方本科院校学生对大学英语拓展课程开设的需求和期望。研究发现,学生普遍支持压缩通用基础英语,对英语拓展课程的学习需求非常强烈。由于学生的学习目标各异,所以他们在拓展课程类型的选择上呈均衡分散态势;语言技能提高类和考试培训类课程受低年级学生欢迎,而高年级学生更青昧专门用途类和跨文化交际类课程。提高语言应用能力和满足就业是学生拓展课学习的主要目标。
By means of questionnaire, this paper probes into the specific needs of average undergraduates on English extended courses. Findings show that General English alone cannot meet students' learning needs satisfactorily, with an overwhelming majority of students voting for its reduction in proportion. Students demonstrate both willingness and keen desire for English extended courses. Out ofdiversfified learning objectives, students' preference for different types of extended courses reveal a diverse but balanced tendency. Skills promotion and exam targeted courses are more favored by junior students while ESP and Cross-Cultural Communication courses are more favored by senior ones. Improving one' s English competence and making preparations for future jobs are the main incentives for further learning.
