高校全英文教学效果的实证研究 被引量:33

An Empirical Study of the Effectiveness of EMI Teaching at University Level

摘要 采用全英文教学的课程体系和教学模式是中国高等教育国际化的一个重要途径。在EMI(English Medium Instruction)教学环境中,英语是一种表达与交流的媒介;作为专业知识的载体,用于建构和分析专业知识。本研究认为,学习者的综合认知水平与英语能力较大地制约了EMI教学的效果。英语基础薄弱的学生把注意力集中于试图理解英语语言的含义,就会损失较多的专业知识;对于具备了较好英语基础、具有较高主观能动性的学生,EMI课程会起到很强的推动和促进作用。 The course system and teaching mode with English as the medium of instruction is an important way to realize the internationalization of higher education in China.In the EMI(English Medium Instruction) environment,English is the medium of presentation and communication,and is treated as the carrier of professional knowledge to construct and analyze the professional knowledge.This research confirms that both the integrated cognition level and English proficiency distinctively restrain the efficiency of EMI teaching.The students with lower level of English proficiency will struggle in understanding the language itself at the expense of the disciplinary knowledge.It is also argued that for those highly motivated and with a solid foundation in English,EMI courses are strongly supportive.
