The Contradiction in the Short History of Translation in the West

以谭载喜的《西方翻译简史<修订版>》为依托,阐述西方翻译史上的"明争暗斗"。第一部分主要是对整个西方翻译历史划分的各种观点,第二部分则是以马克思主义的矛盾辩证观为理论依据,分析西方翻译历史中直译与意译的辩证关系。以此,生成对我国翻译理论与翻译实践发展的建设性启发。

This paper is based on The Short History of Translation in the West written by Tan Zaixi, and is divided into two parts. The first part is about various views referring to the division of the whole history of translation. And the second part is based on the theory of contradictory dialectics to analyze the relationship between literal translation and free translation in the history of translation in the west. By analyzing this, it will make contribution to the development of theory and practice of translation.
