The development of medical journals in Late Qing Dynasty

采用文献考证法,对中国医学期刊在晚清的发生发展情况进行分析。晚清共创办医学期刊26种,在中国医学期刊史上只是一个萌芽时期,但对中国医学,尤其是西医学的发展起到了促进作用,为中国医学期刊的发展奠定了基础,其中,《中华医学会杂志(英文版)》是《中华医学杂志》的英文部分与《博医会报》合并而来,并延续了《博医会报》卷期。

To introduce the appearance and the development of medical journals in Late Qing Dynasty, so as to provide a research foundation for Chinese science history. In Late Qing Dynasty, 26 kinds of medical journals were started, which mainly introduced western medicine, communicated new knowledge and made it widespread. Most of these journals hade been published for a short time, except for The China Medical Missionary Journal and Journal of Integrative Medicine. The publication covers such a small range that it＇s mainly in Shanghai and Guangzhou. In Late Qing dynasty medical journals are just in a budding stage, but they stim- ulate the development of western medicines, and lay the foundation for the development of Chinese medical journals. For instance, Chinese Medical Association Journal （English edition） originates from the combination of Chinese Medical Journal （English edition） and The China Medical Missionary Journal, continues the volume and issue of The China Medical Missionary Journal, and thus becomes the only Chinese medical journal in- cluded in SCI core journal.
