叶灵凤是一位在二十世纪二十年代业已成名的海派作家,自从四十年代到香港之后,一直致力于小品散文的写作,此时的叶灵凤在经历了上海大都会浪漫颓废的激情后,正逐渐转入自然闲适阶段,带着对中国传统文化价值的重新确认,从外来的作家谈香港到本土的作家话家事,身份的转换使叶灵凤的散文意义更为深广。

Ye Ling-feng was a renowned Shanghai style writer in 1920s. In 1940s,Ye moved to Hong Kong, and he had dedi- cated himself to prose writing since then. After experiencing the romance and decadence in Shanghai, Ye was transferring to a nat- ural and leisure style with the reconfirmation of Chinese traditional cultural value. Ye used to be a foreign writer writing about Hong Kong. And then he became a local writer of I-Iong Kong. The identity shift brings a deeper and a profounder connotation to Ye＇ s prose.
