Wuzazu, an excellent note with rich contents, was written by Xie Zhaozhe, an eminent leader in Hterature of central Fujian in the late Ming dynasty. The description of local customs and practices offers credible materials for studying the social life of central Fujian in the Ming dynasty. The author described the mountain and sea, architectural features, abundant products, festival conventions, marriage and funeral customs and various taboos of his country in affectionate writing. His devotion to homeland and rational reflection on the folk negative stereotypes fully embody his humanistic consciousness and thought as a social elite in the late Ming dynasty.
