Mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) plays an important role in parasite growth, proliferation, and invasion and an important role in interaction between the parasite and host. Research will provide an understanding of signa-ling between a parasite and host. Topics such as the significance of MAPK to a parasite's vital functions, detection of MAPK in a host, identification of certain genes to target with drugs, using antigenic proteins as molecules for potential vaccines, and using MAPK inhibitors to regulate and control a parasite's physiological activity provide new insights to un- derstand and deal with issues in parasitology.
