Anil, s Ghost written by Canadian contemporary novelist Michael Ondaatje embodies profound postmod-ern historical consciousness, which writes and reflects on sri lanka, s civil war. His novel represents the bloodi-ness and violence of history development, also rethinks the subjectivity and ideology of historical writing, which presents double question of history both as event and narration. Ondaatje also spotlights individual life buried by History, war and politics, also emphasizes their true misery, trauma and terrified memories, which expresses his deep ethical caring to individual life. The paper holds that Ondaatje is the searcher and saver of dark history of his own country who use the media of literature to reconstruct poetic truth to challenge the function of history.
