The Economic Effects of Urbanization:A Literature Review

城镇化是现代化进程中最富活力的经济社会活动,对经济发展具有重要影响效应,一直以来深受学术界和政府部门的高度关注。因此,学术界和实践界迫切需要梳理关于城镇化经济效应及其作用机理的相关研究。文章基于既有文献成果,系统回顾和梳理了城镇化对经济增长、居民消费、产业发展、二元结构以及公共服务供给影响效应的理论与实证研究,阐明了城镇化驱动经济增长、推动产业转型升级以及改善民生福祉的运行机制,为我国科学推进新型城镇化战略提供了有益的理论依据,也为今后新型城镇化的经济效应有效惠及民生提供了一个系统的理论分析框架。

Urbanization is the most dynamic economic and social activity of in the process of modernization,taking significant influence on economic development,and has been highly concerned by academia and government.Therefore,the academies and practioners are urgently eager to sort out the relevant research on the economic effects of urbanization and its mechanism.Based on the existing literatures,the article reviewed and sorted out the theoretical and empirical research of the economic effects on urbanization,including economic growth,residents consumption,industrial development,dual structure and public service supply,and clarified the operating mechanism of urbanization driving economic growth,promoting industrial upgrading and improving the livelihood of the people,which provides a useful theoretical basis for China to scientifically implement the new urbanization strategy,It also provides a systemic theoretical framework for the economic effects of new urbanization to effectively benefit the people's livelihood in the future.
