On the Methods of Comparative Study of Qian Zhongshu in Studing Song Poetry

钱先生说他在自己的著作里未提倡过"比较文学",而在具体的文学研究中运用了比较文学里的一些方法。这些方法是:比较同一流派中人,细别其不同风格特征;比较相同的艺术风格,透析出各人极细微的不同韵味来;微观深入到在修辞上也进行比较,更清楚看出不同作家、不同风格作品的鲜明个性。钱先生在进行比较研究时,极擅修辞,巧于运用比喻的手法,达到前无古人、后无来者的高峰。

Mr. Qian said that he had not advocated ＂comparative literature＂ in his works while he used some methods in comparative literature in specific literary studies. These methods include： comparing the different styles of the people in the same school; comparing the same art style and differentiating the very subtle differences be- tween different writers; comparing the rhetoric to view the distinct personalities of different writers and different styles of works. In his comparative studies Mr. Qian was very rhetorically adept at using metaphors, and he was no one ever after.
