功能对等理论视角下《红楼梦》英译研究——以霍克斯英译版为例

On the Translation of The Story of the Stone from the perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory: the Case Study of the Version Translated by David Hawkes

《红楼梦》是清代文学家曹雪芹著就的一部佳作,集高度的思想性与艺术性于一体,代表着中国古典小说发展的最高峰。奈达综合了信息论、交际论、符号论和接受美学的合理因素,提出了"动态对等"的翻译论,后改为"功能对等"。本文在奈达的功能理论的指导下,拟从词汇层面、语意层面、风格层面分析《红楼梦》中所达到对等的程度及效果,旨在检验该理论在文学翻译中的合理性和适用性。

The Story of the Stone is the masterpiece of Cao Xueqin in Qing Dynasty, which contains abundant thought, representing the highest peak of the development of Chinese classical novels. Drawing from reasonable factors of information theory, communication theory, symbolic theory, receptional aesthetic, Nida proposes ＂Dynamic Equivalence Theory＂ which is renamed as ＂Functional Equivalence Theory＂. Under the guidance of Nida＇s functional theory, the author analyzes the degree of the equivalence in terms of the vocabulary level, semantic level and style level to test the rationality and applicability of this theory in literary translation.
