The plateau pika(Ochotona curzoniae)plays a keystone role in the grassland ecosystem on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau(QTP)(Smith and Foggin,1999;Lai and Smith,2003),but in spite of its ecological importance it has been targeted for widespread poisoning including across the Sanjiangyuan National Nature Reserve(SNNR).Plateau pikas make burrows that provide homes to many small birds
