英汉虚拟运动表达及概念整合理论下的解读

Fictive Motion Expressions in English and Chinese and Their Interpretations from Conceptual Blending Theory

Talmy把客观上是静止而在语言中表征为运动的现象称之为"虚拟运动"。在英汉语言中,"虚拟运动"大量存在,值得研究。本文在Talmy虚拟运动理论下,对英汉语言中存在的虚拟运动做了对比研究,并在Fauconnier & Turner的概念整合理论下对其做出相关的认知阐释。研究发现,"虚拟运动"与人类的感知视觉有关,也与人类认知具有动态偏向性的特征有关;"虚拟运动"的理解过程可理解为概念整合的过程:两个输入空间的概念结构选择性的投射到整合空间,然后经过组合、完善和扩展三种操作,产生了创新结构,即虚拟运动。

Talmy calls ＂fietive motion＂ the phenomenon that an objectively stationary scene is depicted in terms of real motion in language. ＂Fietive motion＂ that abounds in English and Chinese deserves corresponding researches. In view of Talmy＇ s Fictive Motion Theory, this paper makes a comparative analysis of ＂fietive motion＂ in both English and Chinese, and inter- prets its cognitive mechanism with Fauconnier ＆ Turner＇ s Conceptual Blending Theory. It shows that ＂fictive motion＂ is high- ly related to human beings＇ visual perception as well as the cognitive bias toward dynamism. Conceptual Blending Theory mo- tivates ＂fictive motion＂ in terms of two input spaces selectively projecting their structures/elements into the Blend, which gives rise to emergent structure through composition, completion and elaboration.
