Based on the existence of railway workers, the novels written by Zhang Li on the theme of railways explore the physical and spiritual lives of the workers. Meanwhile, Mr. Zhang, the writer,reflects on the Cultural Revolution in his works, and gains a new view through his re-examination by means of his own experience in and understanding to their lives at that time.
