The paper gives a brief review of theories of explaining social and cultural change of tourist destination, then introduces the origin and application of collective memory theory, finally explains the application of collective memory theory including the main body of the memory, memory carrier, social and cultural change, collective memory and people, time, space, the memory mechanism and factors of affecting social and cultural changes.
