A Review of Chinese Library History in the Past Century and Its Future Prospects

百年中国图书馆史,学术界缺乏宏观审视。20世纪作为纸媒时代的最后阶段,也是承载着信息最重要来源的图书馆发展的高峰。20世纪末,随着数字时代的悄然来临,图书馆走下神坛,高峰地位不再。未来图书馆的可能走向,一是图书馆+互联网将转向互联网+图书馆,二是图书馆未来发展的着力点是人和资源,三是通识教育是图书馆的发展方向,四是图书馆是天堂更是教堂,五是纸质资源与电子资源的分离,六是落实信息再加工,推进供给侧改革。上述之外,未来图书馆还可能会出现学校+公司模式,部分领域会产业化,图书馆可能会跨学校共有,建筑上小巧取代高大上等等。

There is a lack of macro examination of 100 years＇ Chinese library history in the academic circles. Twentieth century, as the last stage of paper media era, is also the development peak of library which carries the most important source of information. At the end of the 20th century, the digital era came quietly, and the library lost its peak position. The possible trends of future library are manifested in the following six aspects. Library plus In- ternet will turn into Intemet plus library. Second, the future development of library will focus on people and re- sources. Third, general education is the development direction of the library. Fourth, the library is the paradise and also a church. Fifth, paper resources will be separated from electronic resources. Last but not least, information reprocessing will be implemented and the supply side reform will be promoted. Furthermore, there may appear ＂school ＋ company＂ model in the future; some fields will be industrialized; the library will be jointly operated cross - schools; small buildings will replace tall ones.
