Women's Reading and Reading Traditions in the South of the Yangtze River in the Qing Dynasty

清代是中国古代女性阅读最活跃的时期,尤以江南显著。清代江南女性阅读兴盛的社会因素在于江南兴盛的女教和发达的藏刻书业,内生因素则是阅读是女性的心灵慰藉以及忘我苦读行为。阅读使女性自身书香萦绕,对家族书香充满自豪感与传承责任感,并通过"课子"这一行为,不仅教之能读、会读,授以读书观与阅读方法,还教化以书香理念,为家族书香传承作出了积极贡献。

Qing Dynasty is the most active period of female reading in ancient China, especially in the South of the Yangtze River. Social factors for the prosperity of female reading were well - developed female education and printing industry. Internal factors were women＇ s desire for reading and their painstaking efforts. Reading made women become knowledgeable and have a strong sense of responsibility in promoting family reading. They encouraged their children to read more and more books, and taught them reading methods, which made positive contributions to the development of family reading.
