语料库驱动的媒体态度解读:以对BBC“南海问题”报道的解读为例

A Corpus-driven Analysis of BBC'Attitude Towards "South China Sea Issue"

BBC对"南海问题"持续报道,但其态度如何,值得研究。本文以态度系统为框架,以语料库驱动的方法解读BBC对"南海问题"的报道,以考察BBC对涉事双方的态度。发现,BBC倾向于从道德和法律角度评判中菲的行为;对中国的正面评价比例较高;意外发现,BBC对双方的评价均是负面大于正面,说明BBC不是以平等的身份进行报道,而是站在道德和法律的制高点,俯视、批判涉事双方,透露出意识形态上的自我优越感,借此显示它所谓的"中立"。本研究为大数据背景下体系化地解读媒体态度提供了新路径。

BBC makes consecutive coverage of ＂South China Sea Issues＂. What attitude it takes is worth exploration. With the attitude system as the framework, this paper makes a corpus - driven study of BBC＇s reports of the ＂South China Sea Issue＂ to reveal BBC＇s attitudes towards the countries concerned. The findings are as follows： BBC tends to judge the actions of the coun- tries concerned morally and legally. Compared with other countries, positive judgement proportion of China is relatively high. Unexpectedly, for all the counties concerned, negative judgements takes up a larger proportion than positive ones, which means BBC overlooks and criticizes the concerning countries from the commanding height of law and moral norms instead of from an e- qual stance. That reveals its ideological superiority complex over others and justifies its neutral stance. This study tries to find a new way to systematically analyze media attitude in this age of mass data.
