This article introduces the knowledge discovery system in libraries and discusses the necessi- ty and importance of topic selection in scientific research. By analyzing the three new functions of the knowledge discovery system, it explores the application and effectiveness in the topic selection of sci- entific research. Taking ＂navigation＂ as the retrieval key word, this article demonstrates the applica- tion method and usage steps of the knowledge discovery system, which makes it possible for users to reveal the academic development trends among large amount of information and achieve the goal of precise topic selection.
