襄阳方言中的"■"是一个典型的从古汉语中保留下来的词汇。"■子"从表示实在意义的"尾部"等含义演变成为襄阳方言中的常用义"剩下的饭菜",词义的变化具有相当的典型性。

'Du(■) 'in Xiangyang Dialect is a typical word remaining from the ancient Chinese language. It is a good representative of the metonymy phenomenon in a language that 'duzi',which was used to mean the 'tails'concretely,has evolved to the common knowledge as the leftovers in Xiangyang Dialect. Compared to 'dizi ',which is another corresponding expression in Mandarin,'duzi'has its own features.
