马士英非牛石慧考

Ma Shiying, Proved not to be Niu Shihui

马士英系贵阳人,曾任南明弘光朝首辅,兼擅南宗山水;牛石慧系江西人,传为八大山人朱耷之弟,长于水墨花鸟。2000年吴之邨先生发表文章,考证牛石慧即马士英,认为今传牛石慧书画真迹皆为马士英笔墨遗珍。本文对吴文论据中的疏误进行了辨析,并以翔实的史实力证马士英和牛石慧并非一人,他们生活的年代大约相距半个多世纪。

Ma Shiying, a native of Guiyang, who worked as a chief auxiliary minister in Hong Guang, the Southern Ming Dynasty, was good at painting of landscapes of Nanzong Dynasty. Niu Shihui was said to be a young brother of pseudonym of Zhu Da, a famous painter of the Ming Dynasty. He was good at drawing Chinese paintings of flower-and bird. In 2000 Mr. Wu Zhichun published an article and firmly believed Niu Shihui to be Ma Shiying. He thought that Niu Shihui＇ s works circulated among people were Ma Yingjiu＇ s original works. This paper analyzed the mistakes in Wu＇ s article and proved they were not the same person with strong evidence of detailed historical facts. They lived in two eras separated by half a century.
