On English Writing Test Items and Their Development Trend

本文简要回顾了高考英语写作试题的发展过程,讨论了几种常见题型的特点和问题,分析了书面表达题命题所面对的矛盾,提出高考英语写作试题应体现英语写作的基本规律,强调语篇能力,考查跨文化能力,尽可能多地涉及与高校学习相关的写作能力,对写作技能的覆盖面应尽量广,应有多种写作任务供考生选择。

This paper makes a brief review of the history of the written expression of the College Entrance Examination. The features and defects of the main written task types in the test are discussed and some contradictions in setting the items are analyzed. The author holds the view that the test items should embody the elementary laws of English writing and focus on checking candidates＇ textual ability and intercultural ability, and more on the written ability for university learning. Broader coverage of writing skills and more choices in the test for testees are necessary.
