稻叶岩吉是近代日本重要的东洋史学家之一,主攻中国的清史、东北史和朝鲜史。他师承内藤湖南和白鸟库吉两位学术大家之长,积极为日本的对外扩张提供所谓的"历史依据",先后提出"满鲜不可分论""中国衰亡论""中国革命无用论"和"外族统治中国进步论",晚年积极为伪满洲国论证"满洲独立发展论",其研究方法和学术主张对后世产生了巨大影响。

InabaIwakichi is one of the most important oriental historians of modern Japan, focusing on China＇ s Qing history, Northeast history and Korean history. He studied under Naito Konan and ShiratoriKurakichi, he actively provided the so-called ＂ historical basis＂ for Japan＇ s external expansion. He successively proposed ＂Manchu and Korean nationality inseparable theory＂, ＂China decline theory＂, ＂useless theory of Chinese revolution＂ and ＂Chinese progress on foreign rule＂ ,he actively demonstrated the ＂Manchurian independence development theory＂ for the Puppet Manchuria in his later years, and his research methods and academic ideas had a great influence on later generation.
