A Study of the Funeral Songs in Meishan of Hunan Province

梅山文化是长江流域绵延不断的古老文明的活化石,是长江流域文明发祥、发展、变化过程的文化浓缩,更是中国传统音乐文化多样性的生动体现,具有鲜明的民族性和本土特色。梅山丧歌是湖南梅山文化极具特色的一个组成部分,是了解湖南梅山文化、梅山民俗的一个重要窗口。梅山丧歌因其深厚的历史渊源,在传统长河中形成了它特有的艺术特色,是绚丽多彩梅山文化中的一朵奇葩。文章从梅山丧歌的分布及其历史渊源,梅山丧歌的艺术特征,梅山丧歌的主要价值及其传承三个方面进行阐述,以示抛玉。

The culture of Meishan is known as a ＂living fossil＂ of the long and ancient civilization in the Yangtze River basin. It condenses the origin, the development and the changing process of Yangtze River civilization and vividly represents diversified Chinese traditional music with distinct national and regional characteristics. Meishan funeral songs keeps as a special component of Meishan culture in Hunan province and becomes an important medium to understand Meishan culture and customs. Because of their deep-rooted historical origin, Meishan funeral songs have their particular artistic features and turn to be a miracle of gorgeous Meishan culture. This paper studies the distribution and historical origin of Meishan funeral songs, their artistic characteristics and their chief values and in- heritance, in hope of arousing more attention to them.
