摘要
影视字幕为目的语观众服务,让其获得与原语观众一样的感受。这与奈达功能对等理论强调译入语读者在领会译文时与原语读者在领会原语文本时的反应一致有相似之处。本文从影视字幕翻译的具体实践入手,借用热播电视剧《神探夏洛克》(第四季)的字幕英译,论述了功能对等理论如何有效运用于字幕翻译,使其在语言、文化和艺术三方面达到对等以及译者为达到功能对等所采取的具体技巧。
Subtitles are born to serve the target language (TL) audience so that they could have the same ex-perience as the source language ( SL) audience dose, which is similar with Nidas function equivalence theory that emphasizes that the TL receptors should respond to the TL message with substantially the same manner to the SL receptors do to the original. From the perspective of audiovisual subtitles translation practice and based on the English subtitles translation of popular TV series S h er lock Season 4, this essay discusses how the function equivalence theory apply to the subtitles translation which achieves equivalence in linguistic level, cultural level and aesthetic level, and discusses translation strategies that the translator takes in order to produce function equivalence.
