The Transitioning Higher Education of Overseas Chinese in Malaysia

通过对马来西亚高等教育、私立高等教育、华人高等教育三个上、下位概念进行全面梳理,可以大致了解华人高等教育的发展现状。通过着重阐述华文高等教育在马来西亚的尴尬而艰难的生存处境,同时分析华社所办的三所学院在教学媒介语上所走过的迂回、曲折的道路,可以看出马来西亚华人高等教育在坚持华文教育的本质、立场与使命、满足学生和家长"适应职场"以及官方所要求的"符合国情与法律"三者之间寻求一种无奈的平衡,换言之,即在理想追求与现实妥协之间寻求一种折中的办法。

By exploring the concept and situations of higher education,private higher education and higher education of overseas Chinese in Malaysia,we can have a general idea about the recent development of overseas Chinese in Malaysia.The Chinese higher education faces awkward and difficult survival situation.Based on analysis of three colleges run by the Chinese community,this paper found out that the Chinese higher education in Malaysia is trying to seek a compromise between the ideal and the reality.
