The Artistic Characteristics of Pingjiang Huadeng Opera of Hunan Province

平江花灯戏在民间也被称为平江灯戏,是流传于湘北地区一带的具有地方特色的传统戏剧。它以平江方言和长沙官话加以结合,提炼为舞台语言,除传统剧本外,民间艺人采用词纲套用方法进行即兴创作。随着历史发展,平江花灯戏趋向大戏,唱腔有小调、正调、引进调、曲牌专用调,旋法中四度音程出现概率高,演唱时真假声有机结合,其风格独特,特色鲜明,体裁丰富多样,具有浓郁的生活气息。

Pingjiang Huadeng opera of Hunan Province is a kind of traditional opera with local characteristics that spread in north Hunan. Its theatrical speech develops from both Pingjiang dialect and Mandarin with Changsha accent. Apart from the traditional scripts, the folk artists sometimes improvise. With its historical development, the opera shows a tendency of developing towards full-scale drama. Its music for voices adopt four types of traditional opera tunes, including ones to which classic Chinese Ci poems were composed; its melodies frequently resort to the fourth interval; true voices and falsettos integrate in singing. With its unique style, distinctive characteristics and rich genre, the opera is full of life.
