In the boom of social media, the archivists should face it calmly and make a rational choice. Through the method of questionnaire survey, the author collected the operational data and the public feed- back information about the WeChat public platform of the archives. On the basis of analysis and discussion of the data, the paper proposed that the WeChat public platform and other social media should exist at the same time, the WeChat public platform should have the unique resources to attract different groups, and the archivists should reply to the public demand as soon as possible. The special social attribute of archives should be fully taken into account in case the platform becomes a white elephant.
