Provides an analysis of "Master Harold" ...and the Boys, a play by the renowned South African playwrightAthol Fugard, from the perspective of cultural globalization. In this play, Fugard artfully writes his personal experience intothe colonial narrative of South Africa. He attempts to dissipate the long-term disputes and conflicts between the whites andthe blacks by revealing the spiritual collision between the black man Sam and the white man Harold, a ratherfather-and-son dyad. Adopts the three key concepts of globalization theory from John Tomlinson' s Globalization andCulture--embedding, deterritorialization, hybridization-- to examine how people in the play overcome the barrier of apartheidand come to embrace a new vision of cultural hybridity.
