《红楼梦》“蹄子”意象创意及译者的策略适应

The Writing Intention of “Ti-zi” Image in a Dream of Red Mansions and its Translators' Strategic Adaptation

《红楼梦》意象层出已经成为此小说构建经典的特征之一,然而谩骂语的意象使用使《红楼梦》又增添了不同于其它经典的独特个性化特征。"蹄子"在谩骂语中是使用频率最高且很具代表性的一个词语。原作者对它寄予了构建人物性格特征的厚望,其双重性特征为译者的策略适应增添了障碍。通过对三个英译本的分析,笔者发现,意译是译者适应"蹄子"意象翻译的最佳选择。

Images have become one feature of A Dream of Red Mansions as a classical novel, among which the use of swear words is a unique feature of the novel. ＂Ti-zi＂ is a high-frequency word in the swear words used in the novel. The intention of the writer is to form the figures＇ characters, which gives barriers to the translators. By analyzing the three target-texts in English, the au- thor has found out that free translation is the best strategy to translate ＂Ti-zi＂ in English.
