王寂为金源一代重臣,又是金代中期的重要作家,其诗、词、文的成就都很可观,被后世称为"大定、明昌文苑之冠"。其提点辽东路刑狱时所留下的《辽东行部志》《鸭江行部志》,保存了金代辽东地区丰富的地理、历史、山川、古迹、风俗、物产和社会生活等方面的知识,具有重要的史料价值,可补正史之阙。而灵活多变的表现手法、新颖别致的文体样式、诗与序的完美结合,又使其洋溢着浓郁的文学色彩,是宝贵的文学创作。
