Mao Zedong's Three Important Assignments for “PLA Naval Air Force Eagles”

海军航空兵第X团曾被毛泽东主席三次点将出征。根据毛泽东指示,1958年7月该团执行入闽作战护航、机动入浙反敌侦察等任务,为封锁金门之战作出了重要贡献;1964年底打击国民党军新型侦察机,予敌以沉重打击;1965年,南下海南岛打击入侵美机,有力捍卫了新中国的领海领空权益。

Regiment X of the People＇ s Liberation Army Naval Air Force was assigned important missions by Chairman Mao Zedong on three occasions. In July 1958, as instructed by Mao Zedong, this regiment carried out military missions inclu- ding escort for the operations into Fujian and anti-enemy reconnaissance for maneuver into Zhejiang, contributing a lot in the Battle of Blockade of Jinmen. At the end of 1964, they succeeded in cracking down on new-type reconnaissance aircraft of the enemy, giving a heavy blow to the KMT troops. In 1965, they went south to Hainan Island to combat invading US air- craft, effectively safeguarding new China＇ s maritime and airspace territorial rights and interests.
