[ Purpose/significance] We measure the knowledge diffusion of research topic by quantitative measurement index, and objectively show the path and its regularity of knowledge diffusion. [ Method/process] The Web of Science (SCI -E&SSCI) database was used as the data source. Through the Cited Reference Search method and taking the literature of the H-index which was proposed for the first time by Hirsch J. E in 2005 as the Cite Reference, the literature was collected from 2005 to 2015 to obtain the sample data. With the help of the information visualization software CiteSpace, the key words co -linear analysis method and document co-citation analysis method are applied to the data. The results of the analysis are cal- culated by the two-order knowledge diffusion index "Q" proposed in this paper, and the quantitative change of index "Q" is obtained. Further analysis can explore the evolution and diffusion of H index. [ Result/conclusion ] The relevance of the knowledge diffusion of the H-index research topic decreases with the increase of the flow class. The main research direction of the two-order knowledge diffusion literature is different, and the second-order literature focuses on the application develop- ment, which is the new growth point of H-index study. The analysis of the subject of H-index shows that the accuracy and scientificity of the two-order knowledge diffusion index "Q" proposed in this paper are proved.
