Corporate Political Action Influences on Product Innovation in Bio-pharmaceutical Industry:Role of Resources

本文探讨了在生物医药产业背景下企业政治行为对产品创新的作用,以及企业资源在企业政治行为与产品创新之间的关系。165家生物医药企业调研数据的实证结果表明:企业政治行为能够促进两种产品创新(突破式创新、渐进式创新);资源柔性作为企业内部资源更大程度中介了企业政治行为与突破式创新的关系;政治联系作为企业外部资源更大程度中介了企业政治行为与渐进式创新的关系。

This study examined the effect of corporate political activity in Bio-pharmaceutical Industry on product innovation, and in- vestigated the underlying resources involved in the relationship between corporate political activity and product innovation. Data collected from 165 Chinese pharmaceutical firms were used to test the hypotheses. The findings show that corporate political activity is likely to lead to radical innovation and incremental innovation. Moreover, resource flexibility as an internal resource more strongly mediates the effect of corporate political activity on radical innovation; whereas political tie as an external resource more strongly mediates the effect of corporate political activity on incremental innovation.
