Yantai Papercut:A Flashback of 6 Centuries

烟台剪纸是中国剪纸最具代表性的民间艺术，剪纸样式品类丰富，在整体风格上，以其画面结构紧凑，线条挺拔流畅的特点，成为中国民间剪纸三大流派之一。

Papercut is also called engraved paper or papercut fnr window decoration.The difference lies in whether it is made with scissors or knives.Despite the difference in tools,the created artistic works are basically the same and generally called papercut.As a hollowing-out art form,papercut impresses people with its open-type art enjoyment,lts entity can be such flat materials as paper,gold and silver foil,tree bark,leaves,cloth,leather and suede.Papercut spreads widely among the people in Yantai.As the most representative folk art of Chinese papercut,Yantai papercut has abundant forms and varieties and features compact picture composition and forceful and smooth shapes in its overall style,making it one of the three major schools of folk papercut in China.Yantai papercut was listed among national intangible cultural heritage in 2008 and the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity organized by UNESCO,further entrenching the important status of Yantai papercut in China and even the world.
