Henry van de Velde was the leader of the ＂20 people team＂ in the Belgium avant-garde design movement when in youth time. Then he became the the representative of the new art movement in Belgium after entering thirty years of age. Enter the middle age, he host and founded the predecessor of the Bauhaus Design School- Weimar Municipal Art School. Then together with his friends, he founded the German manufacturing Alliance. He was eager to find inspiration from nature and good at using the plant curves to beautify his products, which showed a strong new style of art. His affirmative attitude towards machine and the dedication to ration make him a forerunners of rationalism. He actively promoted the combination theory of art and technology and developed education and spread design theory in Germany. Velde was not only an important leader in the new art movement, but also a great revolutionist who inspired modern design ideas to flourish.
