摘要
《西游记》是韦利翻译的唯一一部中国古典小说,因其巨大的影响力在韦利译作中占据着举足轻重的地位。经过细致的文本解读,发现译本在语言、文化层面上表现出浓厚的"陌生化"特点。笔者认为,韦利的"陌生化"翻译策略不仅给英语读者带来了全新的阅读感受,同时也在一定程度上促使着中国语言、文化在英语世界的传播。
Monkeyis the only Chinese novel Waley had translated,and it takes a prominent place in his translation works for its far-reaching impact.After the meticulous reading of Monkey,it is found that Monkeypresents a strong color of'defamiliarization'in linguistic and cultural aspects.By this translation method,Waley brings a fresh air to the English readers,and this also helps to spread Chinese language and culture to some extent.
