Binary Opposition Discourse Pattern Mode and Modernity in Lin Shu's Prefaces and Postscripts

以《林琴南书话》一书为研究对象,以"传统与变革""尚文与尚武""老年与少年"三组二元对立话语为切入点,通过文本细读,探析了林译序跋中对立的现代性:提倡变法维新,又反对抛弃儒家传统;批判阴柔之风,弘扬阳刚之气;以老年的焦虑表达对少年的殷切期盼,反映深切的爱国情怀。

Lin Qirrnan/s Book Remarks is analyzed, taking the three groups of binary oppositiondiscourse as the starting point, which are tradition and transformation, advocating literature andadvocating warrior, and older and juvenile. The modernity of Lin Shu？s prefaces and postscripts is explored and analyzed through ntensive reading of the text： Lin Shu advocates reform while opposesto forsaking the Confucian tradition; critiques feminity and upholds masculinity; expresses an eager expectation of youth from the anxiety of age, all of which gives full expression of his patriotic emotions.
