In Lives of Girls and Women, Dell＇s aunts embody the ideology of tradition; Mrs. Jordan, dell＇s mother, represents the progressive female image struggling for freedom and independence; Dell herself, who tries to acclimate to the environment, shows a self-reliant female image.
