英语文献阅读中“注意”语言形式对学术英语的习得影响 被引量:3

On the effect of noticing language forms on academic English acquisition derived from the reading of English-delivered literature

摘要 国内研究生具有一定英语文献阅读输入量,但是学术英语输出能力严重不足,这表明其学术英语习得水平较低。本研究依据相关二语习得理论,通过实验和访谈就英语文献阅读过程中"注意"语言形式对学术英语习得的影响进行了探讨。研究表明以科研为阅读动机,采用整体理解策略的"真实性"文献阅读方式对学术英语习得作用不显著。相比之下,在"真实性"阅读之外"注意"语言形式对学术英语习得具有显著影响。就具体学术语言项目而言,学术词汇清晰稳定、认知突显,而学术语法抽象复杂、认知隐晦,所以前者易于习得而后者习得难度较高。 The postgraduate students in China read considerable amount of English-delivered literature,yet show severe deficiency in their ability of using academic English,which reveals their relative low level of academic English acquisition. Based on relevant SLA theories and adopting an experiment and interviews,the research explores the effect of noticing language forms in the course of reading English-delivered literature on the acquisition of academic English. The results show that the authentic way of reading,namely the reading style adopting the research-oriented motivation and taking the top-down macroscopic understanding strategies,has no marked effect on the acquisition of academic English. By contrast,the acquisition will occur if effort is made beyond the authentic reading to pay due attention to language forms. Specifically,academic vocabulary can be acquired easily thanks to their cognitive salience and formal stability while academic sentence grammar,due to its cognitive unmarked and highly abstract nature,will take more attention and time if it's expected to be acquired.
