Interdisciplinary Convergence and Environmental History Studies:An Interview with Professor Wang Jiange

近年来,环境史(或生态史)研究越来越成为显学,研究者也基本都认可从事环境史研究需要借助跨学科的综合知识,如何实现跨学科却并不容易。王建革教授认为,跨学科史学研究应该在关注一些核心史学问题的基础上,通过对自然科学与社会科学知识体系的熟练掌握、交汇融合,在新的学科平台基础上形成新的历史研究视野,扩充历史研究的内容,甚至对一些传统的史学问题提出新的见解。只有推动了史学的发展,环境史学才可以出现深入发展的生机。王建革教授的研究在国内环境史学界极具代表性。2016年3月初,在其著作《江南环境史研究》即将出版之际,耿金博士在复旦大学光华楼对王教授进行采访,访谈内容涉及其个人学术经历及最新思考。现将访谈主要内容分享如下:

In recent years, as the study of environmental history(or ecological history)has attracted more and more academic interest, most researchers have also acknowledged the necessity of interdisciplinary knowledge in the study of environmental history, but it is not easy to put it into practice. Professor Wang Jiange believes that interdisciplinary research on environmental history should be grounded on some core historical problems, and by mastering and blending the natural science and social science knowledge system we should have new perspectives in history research on the new academic platform, broaden the content of history study, and even propose new ideas on some of the traditional historical issues. Only by promoting the development of history studies can environmental history study gain impetus of in-depth development.Professor Wang Jiange's research is highly representative in the domestic academia of environmental history. In early March 2016, when his book Study On the Environmental History of Jiangnan was about to publish, I had an interview with him in the Guanghua Building of Fudan University. This interview covered his personal academic experience and latest ideas of his research.
