上海宝玉石协会（前称）成立于1996年5月，在刘振元会长的领导下．于1997年10月在城隍庙“城隍珠宝”银楼创办了首届“上海宝玉石博览会暨玉龙奖玉雕作品评审”活动，近百件作品的展览和评审，开创了地方行业协会策划组织博览会和评审会的先河，引领了民间组织超前思维的营销策略，引起了全国同行业的关注和首肯。

Gems & Jade Trade Association of Shanghai(former name) was established in May1996. Under the leadership of President Liu Zhenyuan, it launches the first 'Shanghai Gems and Jade Fair and Yulong Award Appraisal for Jade Carvings' at 'Chenghuang Jewellery' in October 1997, which exhibited and appraised nearly 100 artworks. This set a precedent for local industry associations to launch exhibitions and accreditation events. Since 1997, 'Yulong Award' has witnessed the glory for 20 years.
