摘要
本研究以66名英语专业本科生为实验对象,英语语篇为实验材料,考察中国英语学习者二语水平对其词汇推理过程中的知识源使用及推理成功率的影响。研究发现:1)高、低语言水平受试在词汇推理过程中使用的知识源类型呈共享模式,均涉及包括词汇、句子和语篇层面在内的语言知识源和以世界知识为主的非语言知识源,且其各知识源使用的相对频率大体趋于一致,其中句子层面知识源使用最为频繁,而语篇层面和世界知识知识源使用较少;2)高语言水平受试的二语词汇推理成功率明显高于低语言水平受试,即受试二语水平与其词汇推理成功率呈正相关关系。
This study explores the effects of L2 proficiency on Chinese EFL learners' use of knowledge sources and their suc-cess rate in inferring the meaning of the target words. To this end, a total of 66 Chinese undergraduates majoring in English areselected as participants and English texts as are used stimulus materials. Results show that : ( 1 ) the high and low L2 profi-ciency groups share the same pattern for knowledge source use, including both linguistic and non-linguistic knowledge; the twogroups also share an approximately similar pattern of relative frequency in using these knowledge sources; specifically, sen-tence knowledge source is most frequently used, while discourse knowledge and world knowledge sources are seldom em-ployed; (2) the success rate of lexical inferencing for the high L2 proficiency group is much higher than that for the low profi-ciency group, which indicates that L2 proficiency is positively correlated with the success rate of lexical inferencing.
