ERP studies on lexical concreteness are summarized and suggestions for further studies are provided in the present paper.According to different foci of the studies, the present paper classifies the relevant studies into two kinds. The first kind focuses on the theoretical models used to explain lexical concreteness effects, among which extended dual coding theory is the most influential one.The other one studies the interactive effects between lexical concreteness and other lexical factors such as lexical emotionality, lexical semantic richness and word class, which indicates that lexical concreteness effects are influenced by these factors. Finally,it puts forward several suggestions on how to deepen future studies on lexical concreteness.
