Although Saul Bellow is unwilling to be called an American Jewish writer,he has endowed his masterpiece Humboldt's Gift with many Jewish factors,such as typical Jewish protagonists and his Jewish philosophy as well. This paper discusses the memories of the holocaust from the two protagonists,and then illuminates their cultural background of Jewish identity as well as the author's Jewish philosophy.
