我国高校校名与院名英译研究——以温州高校为例

Study on English Translation of the Names of Universities and Colleges in China——A Discussion from the Universities and Colleges in Wenzhou

大学是莘莘学子心中的"象牙塔",作为培养人才的摇篮,不仅影响着一代人甚至整个民族,而大学的名称作为大学的招牌,是其给予社会的一张"名片"。通过案例分析发现目前温州高校校名的英译名翻译标准存在不统一,译文有用词、拼写和打印错误等问题。面对这些问题,高校领导的重视、译者的团队协作、语料库的建立等方式是确保我国高校校名与院名英译质量的有效途径。

As the cradle to groom talented people, universities, which influence not only a generation of people but also the whole nation, are printed deeply in a great number of disciples ＆ minds. The fames of universities are their “visiting cards” presented to the public. By cases study, the author discovers that some English translations of the names of universities and colleges in Wenzhou are incongruous and some English names are incorrectly used, spelt and printed. The leaders ＆ attention, the cooperation of translators and the building of corpus are the best ways to assure the quality of English translation of the names of universities and colleges in China.
