Death of the Poet is Dai Houying＇ s first novel written according to her own experience, which has examined intellectuals＇ living road and spiritual journey. She experienced a process of identity reconstruction in the transitional time, changing her role of ＂literary sentry＂ actively during the ＂Cultural Revolution＂, and wrote Death of the Poet through confessing and self examination. After this, she completed her identity conversion and kept abreast with times.
