Objective To compare the incidence rate of fluid leakage and seepage between the use with and without tissue glue in puncture point after nerve catheterization. Methods Five hundred and thirteen patients undergoing peripheral nerve catheterization for postoperative analgesia were divided into group A (n=237 cases) and group B (n=276 cases). The patients in group A were used tissue glue to adhere the puncture point, and cotton balls to prevent leakage after completing catheterization, and in group B only cotton balls were used. The adverse events were observed and recorded, including leakage, seepage, and tube shedding. The severity of fluid leakage and seepage was compared between the two groups. Results The incidence rate of fluid leakage and seepage, its severity as well as tube shedding were lower in group A than those in group B (P〈0.05). Conclusion Tissue glue can decrease the incidence of fluid leakage and seepage, reduce its severity and tube shedding.
