Studying Xia Nai's Speech Script The Archaeological Methodology

夏鼐作为新中国考古工作的主要指导者和组织者，对新中国考古学的全面发展做出了卓越的贡献。笔者在阅读《夏鼐日记》时，发现他在1941年回国之初，曾于2月21日在北京大学文科研究所以“考古学方法论”为题作了一次学术讲演。经进一步查证，发现此篇讲演稿事后刊载于1941年6月出版的《图书季刊》新第三卷第一、二期合刊中（图一；图二）。

Dr. Xia Nai＇ s Speech Script The Archaeological Methodology which was made in 1941 possesses positive meanings of enriching theories and methods for the Chinese archaeology just started for a short time. Seen from the content of the speech, some conclusions of Xia Nai had clear prospects. This speech had direct relationship with the formation of Xia Nai＇ s archaeological theoretical system in the later times. This speech mentioned the field archaeological methods, relationship between archaeology and historiography, the statuses of archaeology at home and abroad, the expectations to the Chinese archaeology, etc., all which are significantly meaningful for the studies on the archaeological thoughts of Dr. Xia Nai and the history of Chinese archaeology.
